If I want to become a Bioengineer ...do I have to like Mice?

The thing is that I really like Nutrition...and sometimes I hear a voice...because I feel responsibility for the human diseases...I want something for humankind...but its just that I a do not like animals...I do like the genetic processes...but I do not like to be on a lab like a prison...i want more communication with people...thank you very much!
