Zombies becoming a reality??? - views and opinions...?

I am one of these people who are always open to the unreal becoming reality. 28 days and weeks later and other films like them are designed to make you think, what if... I know that they are only films and are not in any way a true reflection of life as we know it at the moment but with science and technology ever growing, would it ever be possible for humankind to eventually create a virus which would turn our own kind against each other with zombie-like attributes? I don't mean the dead coming back to life, as zombies are portrayed but for us as a species to create a life changing formula which could simulate zombie-like traits. What do you think?
