My Ex choked me and went to speak with a pastor but he is atheist??? Confused?

If he doesn't have any strong adult figures in his life, a pastor can fill that role. They make good mediators despite your religious beliefs. And maybe he's not an atheist but undecided, or maybe he's deciding that he does want to convert because of this girl.
